{Lucky me} Casper, WY Child Photographer

I have been lucky enough to photograph some real cutie pies the last week! I am still waiting on some nice sunshiny weather but for now I do what I can to capture these sweet little faces indoors. Well with the exception of one session, it was cold and windy. So here are some sneak peeks of those cutie pies, with more to come later....

I got to photograph this little cutie at his home. I love home shoots because they are so intimate. I get to see how the families interact in their own environment, and personalities really come out. I also feel honored whenever I do a home shoot for the fact that these people welcome me into their homes and give me that glimpse of their personal lives. I try to make these shoots as candid as possible without a lot of posing.
Oh wow this little doll kept me on my toes. I am glad it was only mom and little one at this session because anyone else would have witnessed me making a huge fool of myself, lets just say the "itsy bitsy spider" was a fan favorite. Oh and note to self......Bring goldfish crackers to every session.
This was the cold and windy session, and as you can see the boys were awesome! (FYI, that was not a sad face because of the cold) I really like this photo from the session, mom said "That is so my boys!" after seeing this picture. I LOVE to hear comments like that, I feel like I am doing something right when I can capture personalities.

{Mitch & Kristen} - Casper, WY Engagement Photographer

Yesterday's session with my nephew and his fiance was a cold one. It snowed the entire time, which makes for some fun winter pictures but is a bugger for focusing. Despite this they were cute as ever. So glad to see him happy and with such a great girl. I'm not sure she knows what she is getting herself into by joining this family, we won't let the crazy show until after the wedding. Congratulations you two!

{If Only}

the wind would stop.

the runny noses would cease.

the snow would melt.

the sun would shine. . . .

all would be happy in my little world.

I'm usually not a complainer of the weather, but this year it is wearing on me and I am having serious cabin fever. I need me some sunshine!

{Family Session Collage}

I have been asked to donate a session for the Wyoming Medical Center Foundation's Connoisseur's Delight 2011 Event. They also asked for a little collage of recent family sessions I have done, so here is what I came up with. I really don't like picking photos because there are so many wonderful families I have taken pictures of and it's so hard to choose.

{Because I am sick of the wind and need a little sunshine}

Lemonyogurtpops2

Lemon Frozen Yogurt with Raspberries

Makes about 1 1/2 quarts, or about 12 regular popsicles

To get the truest yogurt flavor, use plain yogurt, not vanilla-flavored or any other flavor, and with as little sugar added as possible. Regular yogurt contains quite a bit of water, so if you use it straight the frozen yogurt can become hard and icy. To prevent this, regular yogurt should be strained. You can place the yogurt into a cheesecloth-lined strainer or colander and place over a bowl. Fold the cheesecloth around the yogurt and place the whole setup into the refrigerator overnight to let the yogurt drain. You will need more than 3 cups of regular yogurt to yield 3 cups after it's been strained. Or, you can use Greek yogurt, which has already been strained and is thick and creamy. The more fat the yogurt contains, the richer the frozen result will be, naturally, but the 2% yogurt I used yielded quite excellent results and it's not necessary to use full-fat yogurt (not to mention it might negate its touted healthfulness!)

3 cups plain strained regular yogurt, or Greek yogurt

1 to 1 1 /2 cups sugar (to taste)

1 cup lemon juice

1 tablespoon lemon zest

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and stir together until the sugar is dissolved. Refrigerate the mixture for a couple of hours until it is thoroughly chilled.

Freeze in an ice cream maker per manufacturer's instructions.

When it has reached the consistency of soft serve, you can either scrape into a container and freeze overnight, or divide among popsicle molds and then freeze overnight. You can swirl the raspberries into the mixture before you freeze the yogurt. If you are making popsicles, you may want to cut the raspberries into pieces so you don't have large frozen berries in the pops.

{Bill & Chelsie}

Just saw this (<~~Click here) on the blog of a couple I shot an engagement session for, and thought it was very sweet of them to post. I had a BLAST with these two. I
took so many pictures because they were so natural in front of the camera. I love sessions where I don't have to work very hard :) They were just so comfortable with each other. Thanks for the laughs!

{Welcome}

. . .to the J. Sore Photography blog! My name is Jessica Sorensen and I am a photographer in Casper, WY. I have been blessed to be able to do something I love and make a living doing it.
The first time I remember being fascinated by photography was as a young girl playing with my grandmothers polaroid camera, the fact that I could freeze a moment in time was such a thrill. My cousin and I would dress up and put on full makeup (drag queen style) and pose in the backyard. It really wasn't until high school when my mother bought me a Canon 35mm that I really began experimenting and falling in love all over again. I studied photography in college and loved everything about the dark room, I loved the whole process. In 2005 I bought my first digital camera and haven't looked back since. I did professional jobs (and by that I mean people actually paid me) here and there starting in 2003. After the birth of my son in 2007 I quit my job and I started doing photography full time.
My love for photography has never ceased, daily I am inspired and want to try or learn something new. I want to always feel that drive behind my work, and I hope you enjoy the outcome. This blog will be a place where I will post previews of sessions and blog about the experience with maybe misc. bits and pieces.
I am horrible about updating these things, so I hope that people are excited about visiting my blog so it keeps me on track :) Enjoy!!
